Le Tamarin. Phone #(596) 68-71-20. A small place with only two apartments, each with its own kitchen, although their restaurant (of the same name) is located directly across the road on the beach.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:
The area itself. This is a relaxed, friendly atmosphere emphasized perhaps by the numerous casual restaurants, fruit stalls and littlle stand-up bars lining the beach. This is a strange combination of local fishing village meets tourist/traveller hangout. And here, for whatever reason, it works !
ACCESS TO BEACH:
Parking along beach roadway and shoulder of main road.
QUALITY OF BEACH:
A narrow, somewhat hard-packed beach. The closeness of the on-beach eateries has narrowed an already thin strip of sand. Photographers note: Great sunsets overlooking a harbor filled with boats.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
When night falls the locals take to playing dominoes over a few friendly bottles of island rhum. Join in, if you wish. An out-of-the-way casual beach scene where visitors can easily mingle with the locals. Other beaches in this area include: Anse Dufour, Anse Mitan, and Anse a l'Ane.
